Toll Collect GmbH is the company in charge of operating the world's first satellite-based toll system. T-Systems develops, integrates, installs and maintains the core components of the main central system for Toll Collect. The T-Systems unit Satellic Traffic Management (Deutsche Telekom AG) has invested significantly in the development of satellite based solutions and contains state-of-the-art technologies for next generation tolling systems.
With this complete solution, we are able to deliver an integrated and sophisticated system, which integrates proven business processes with innovative technology, to enable effective and low cost of operation tolling system solutions.
With the end-to-end solution, Satellic supplies an integrated and complex development that meets the high standards of a process-oriented, state-of-the-art technical implementation concept.
The Toll Collect system is used to record information and account for more than 900.000 vehicles, including over 640.000 equipped with a built-in electronic device known as an On-Board Unit (OBU). Protecting personal data is a top priority in the development and operation of the entire system.
The satellite-based Toll Collect system does not require any road-side equipment and enables a free-flow-traffic on German motorways and federal roads. In contrast to conventional toll systems, there is no need for vehicle speed restrictions, stops or special toll lanes. More than 100 billion kilometers have been recorded and invoiced to customers.
